Each tax year will be recalculated if you enter a claim. This often identifies other overpayments due to incorrect tax codes, multiple employments, ceasing of job, etc. In these cases we can identify a much larger tax rebate. We regularly identify rebates of over £1,000 for customers who were originally estimated a lower amount.

If you claim now you will receive tax relief for the current tax year and future years that allowances continue to apply, paid through your monthly pay. The value of this is usually £{{ App.CustomerClaim.AnnualRefund }} per year.

You don’t need to make any upfront payment to us in order for us to check if you are due a rebate.

We will ensure that your current year reliefs are correct and that your future year allowances are adjusted in line with the current year to ensure you are no longer being overtaxed. There will be no charge for this service.

The annual saving of £{{ App.CustomerClaim.AnnualRefund }} per year for the current and future years will not be subject to charge. You will receive this automatically in your pay once your tax code has been adjusted.

We will also check the earlier years to determine if you can claim back any previously overpaid tax. HMRC will pay any rebate due directly to us and we will forward payment to you, in due course, net of our deductions of 28%, plus VAT, where due, providing the net refund payment is £20 or more.

We will issue your refund through our Uniform Benefits payment card which you can withdraw cash on at a cashpoint or spend in shops or online like a normal debit card. If you use your card at selected retailers you can also earn additional cashback to continue to spend.

Healthcare Worker Tax Rebate - British Association of Social Workers (BASW)

The British Association of Social Workers is encouraging its 16,000 strong membership to join in the Trades Union Congress’s ‘Britain needs a pay rise’ campaign – which aims to be the largest demonstration this decade.

Guy Shennan, BASW chairman, said: “I am proud that BASW will be taking part to add our social work voices to this important demand on our government, that Britain needs a pay rise. It is about fairness and if social work is about anything it is about fairness and justice. I look forward to social workers marching on October 18, united with other workers, including people who use our services, for a fairer and more equal society.”

In London, the march will assemble at 11am on October 18 on the Embankment near Blackfriars; in Glasgow, where the Scottish Trade Union Congress is organising around the slogan ‘A just Scotland. Decent work, dignified lives’, the demonstration will assemble at 10am on October 18 on Glasgow Green; the Northern Ireland Committee of the Irish Congress of Trade Unions is discussing its plans for the protest. For details on where to meet on October 18 email your national contact: england@basw.co.uk, scotland@basw.co.uk, or n.ireland@basw.co.uk

The BASW reports its membership is continuing to go from strength to strength, now reaching its highest level ever at 16,130, a rise of nearly eight per cent in the last year. The Social Workers Union (SWU) also saw membership rise to 8,917.

BASW’s chief executive, Bridget Robb, said: “Our strength lies in our numbers and at a time of considerable pressure on both the profession and those we serve it is vital we continue to speak up for social work.”

Social workers who join BASW are eligible for tax relief on their fees, saving basic rate taxpayers up to £48 a year. This amounts to a 20% saving on their BASW membership, significantly cutting the cost of joining the professional association for social workers in the UK. Just visit Healthcare Worker Tax Rebate and enter your details to get the forms to claim. It’s really easy and you can complete your part of the claim in less than 5 minutes.
