Each tax year will be recalculated if you enter a claim. This often identifies other overpayments due to incorrect tax codes, multiple employments, ceasing of job, etc. In these cases we can identify a much larger tax rebate. We regularly identify rebates of over £1,000 for customers who were originally estimated a lower amount.

If you claim now you will receive tax relief for the current tax year and future years that allowances continue to apply, paid through your monthly pay. The value of this is usually £{{ App.CustomerClaim.AnnualRefund }} per year.

You don’t need to make any upfront payment to us in order for us to check if you are due a rebate.

We will ensure that your current year reliefs are correct and that your future year allowances are adjusted in line with the current year to ensure you are no longer being overtaxed. There will be no charge for this service.

The annual saving of £{{ App.CustomerClaim.AnnualRefund }} per year for the current and future years will not be subject to charge. You will receive this automatically in your pay once your tax code has been adjusted.

We will also check the earlier years to determine if you can claim back any previously overpaid tax. HMRC will pay any rebate due directly to us and we will forward payment to you, in due course, net of our deductions of 28%, plus VAT, where due, providing the net refund payment is £20 or more.

We will issue your refund through our Uniform Benefits payment card which you can withdraw cash on at a cashpoint or spend in shops or online like a normal debit card. If you use your card at selected retailers you can also earn additional cashback to continue to spend.

Healthcare Worker Tax Rebate - The British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

Deputy prime minister Nick Clegg’s promise that the coalition government will put waiting times for treatment of mental health conditions on the same level as for physical conditions have been welcomed by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Mr Clegg said: “It’s wrong that those needing a hip operation can expect treatment within a clear timeframe but someone with a debilitating mental health condition has no clarity about when they will get help.” He wants three-quarters of patients needing “talking therapies” for conditions such as depression to be guaranteed treatment in as little as six weeks, with 95% starting treatment after a maximum wait of 18 weeks. Patients suffering more serious problems, such as psychosis, will be offered treatment within two weeks of referral – bringing the service into line with targets for cancer referrals.

Amanda Hawkins, chairman of BACP, gave the news a cautious welcome saying: The announcement does feel like a significant step forward. We should celebrate the introduction of waiting times as a sign that the government and NHS England are beginning to get serious about tackling the crisis of mental distress in our society. A guaranteed maximum waiting time for psychological therapy is particularly important but, over and above the need for shorter waiting times, improvements in provision, research and funding for psychological therapies will also need to be addressed to ensure these new targets can be met. Services must be appropriately funded and supported to avoid potential harm to patients if the existing level of provision is simply rationed in order to meet targets.”

BACP proposals will be outlined in a forthcoming report, Psychological Therapies and Parity of Esteem: from Commitment to Reality, being launched in December.

With more than 41,000 members, BACP is the largest professional body representing counselling and psychotherapy in the UK. It isn’t just a membership organisation, it is a registered charity that sets standards for therapeutic practice and provides information for therapists, clients of therapy, and the general public.

Ms Hawkins added: “We must recognise how far we’ve still got to go. As counsellors and psychotherapists, we know that the humane approach lies in prizing the individual, in empathy and through relationship, validating the personal experiences of those in distress. The therapeutic relationship takes time to develop, and real change cannot come overnight. Above all, people need to be treated as individuals, with different life stories and experiences. Too often, amid the headline talk of targets, outcomes and waiting times, we forget that people do not neatly fit into tick boxes.”

One box that all BACP members should tick is securing tax relief on their fees and making use of their allowances. Visit www.healthcareworkertaxrebate.co.uk and enter your details to get the forms to claim. It’s really easy to do and you can complete your part of the claim in less than 5 minutes.
